Clarence 'Hooker' Hood 1926-2012

Sprint car competitor Clarence 'Hooker' Hood passed away today after a long period of declining health. We're proud that he was the 2009 Memphis Rodders Reunion honoree, but more importantly, he was a legend among his racing peers and a hero to many a speed-struck youngster throughout his decades long career.
Of all the photos we gathered for the 09 Reunion, the image above is my favorite. A beaming Hooker clutches a race trophy, all while still dressed for battle and seated behind the wheel of a race car. Like they say, a picture says a thousand words, and this one says more than most.
Visitation will be Friday, December 28th, 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Bartlett Baptist Church (3465 Kirby Whitten Pkwy. Bartlett, TN 38135)
Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 29th at 11:00 AM, also at Bartlett Baptist Church.
