It's a blast from the past, as 2007 Memphis
Rodders Reunion honoree Larry Reyes enjoys
some seat time in the restored 1969
'Hawaiian' funny car, just prior to the
"Cacklefest" portion of the 50th
anniversary NHRA Winternationals.
Looks like Larry has got a pretty full
dance card of appearances lined up for the
2010 nostalgia drag racing scene. He
started off the year with the big 'Golden
50' celebration at the aforementioned
Winternationals. Larry appeared at NHRA's
"Big Go West" with a long list of drag
racing luminaries and upwards of almost 90
nostalgia drag cars that were displayed at
fabled Pomona Raceway. Larry and Roland
Leong are shown above greeting an endless
stream of fans who stopped by for an
autograph and to recall the Hawaiian's
decisive victory at the Winternationals 40
years prior.
Next up for Larry is the
Muscle Car Reunion &
Nostalgia Drags at Gateway
International Raceway in St. Louis over
Memorial Day weekend. Larry also will
appear at the Kansas City edition of the
Muscle Car Reunion & Nostalgia Drags
Sept. 17-19. Recently, Larry arranged
for the 'Hawaiian' to get some studio
time as he and the famous funny car were
featured on a
PowerBlock TV
promo in advance of the
upcoming
8th annual NHRA National
Hot Rod Reunion at Beech
Bend Raceway in Bowling Green KY. Larry
will also be a National Hot Rod Reunion
honoree at the Father's Day weekend
bash, so stop by and say hello June 18th
- 20th. The NHRR is always a great
event, and this one should have extra
special significance to the Memphis
Rodders crowd with Larry and the
'Hawaiian' being prominently featured.
Larry will make other special appearances
during the year so stay abreast of when and
where by visiting
his website,
and check out what the latest happenings
are under the 'News' tab.
