NHRR Returns to
Bowling Green
November/19/2007 21:53
Good News! The
Wally Parks NHRA
Motorsports Museum has made
the decision to return the National Hot
Rod Reunion to Beech Bend Raceway in
Bowling Green Kentucky. The event left
last year for the larger grounds of
National Trail Raceway in Columbus Ohio,
but apparently some infrastructure
improvements to Beech Bend, and a
general fondness for the rustic Kentucky
track has caused a change of heart. NHRA
has signed a 5 year contract with Beech
Bend Raceway to keep the event in
Bowling Green for the foreseeable
future.
If you haven't attended this event, give
some serious thought to doing so. You won't
be sorry. It's a perfect mix of nostalgic
street driven hot rods and customs, modern
street rods, and a heavy dose of old style
drag racing. You'll see restored race cars
you thought were long gone at this event,
and many of the people that shaped hot
rodding and drag racing into what it is
today. It's a reunion, but it's a lot more.
There's something for just about everyone
at this deal.
Additional information can be had from the
NHRA, and if
you care to view my photos from the 2006
event I've got them stashed
here. So
pencil Father's Day weekend of 2008 into
your calendar, it's a trip back in time
that can't be beat!
