Reunion Donation Presented
November/29/2007 00:46
The Memphis Rodders Reunion has always been a pleasure to attend. Surviving members of the club get a chance to see old friends and renew acquaintances. Those of us that weren't there when the Memphis Rodders made the whole rodding and racing scene happen around Memphis get a great look back at our local hot rod history, and have a chance to mix it up with some of the true pioneers of our pastime. I've noticed, that everyone seems to leave with a smile on their face.
What might not be so obvious after the socializing is done, is how the proceeds of the event are used to benefit a very worthy cause. Everyone who attends this event contributes towards the annual charitable donation that is made in the name of the Memphis Rodders Reunion. This year, the reunion saw its largest attendance figures ever, and as a result, the donation to the Shriner's Burn Transportation Fund also grew to a new level.
This past Wednesday, Larry Nolan presented a check for $7,000 to Potentate Jim Norman on behalf of the Memphis Rodders Reunion. These funds will be used to transport critically burned children to Shriner's Hospitals that specialize in Pediatric Burn Care. This is almost twice the amount of previous donations, and is a direct result of the enthusiastically attended reunion. Every person who buys a ticket to the reunion has a role in making this donation possible. Furthermore, purchasing 50/50 tickets, participation in the lucky number drawing, individual donations, and memorabilia sales all help to increase the amount of the final donation. A hearty "Thank You" to every attendee for making the reunion a continuing success, and insuring that donations like this are possible for such a worthy cause.
Plans are already being formed for the 2008 reunion, so stay abreast of developments by visiting this web site for announcements regarding the reunion and other items of interest.
